Transforming Education Through Technology and Capacity Building

Jaami Primary School, located in Kifuyo, Buyinja Subcounty of Namayingo District, is leading the way in teacher professional development through a unique blend of offline and e-learning methods. With support from the Iceland Embassy in Uganda and the Government of Uganda, the Kisubi Associated Writers Agency (KAWA) has implemented a training program that is equipping educators with the skills they need to enhance student learning and success.

The school is headed by Aisha Namalwa, a dedicated headteacher who has never missed a training session. Her commitment to professional growth is reflected in her leadership style, inspiring both teachers and students. Under her guidance, Jaami Primary School embraces the motto, “We Aim Higher.”

Jaami Primary School’s teaching staff consists of five male and five female educators, for a total of 10 teachers. They are currently undergoing comprehensive training, gaining new skills that will benefit their classrooms and students. The online training program focuses on several key areas:

Student Enrollment and Resources

Jaami Primary School serves a student body of 315 female pupils and 349 male pupils, totaling 664 students. To support the teachers’ professional development, the school has received high-quality KAWA digital resources, covering subjects such as Social Studies, Integrated Science, Math, English, Christian Religious Education, Islamic Religious Education, and Teacher Guides.

  1. On behalf of jaami primary school community and on my own behalf,i would like to thank KAWA and the coordinator in conjunction with the Ice Land embassy for having chosen Jaami primary school as one of pilot schools in Namayingo district.
    Below are the benefits so far and we hope for more:
    1.This terms report cards have been made by teachers using the gargets.
    2.Casting of revision papers using smart Tv
    3.Teachers are hands on hence developing new skills
    4.Both teachers and learners have embrassed the modern method of teaching and learning
    5.Emis registration is done by teachers using the gargets.
    However,we need more support on conducting lessons since it’s a new initiative.
