About KAWA

Welcome to KAWA Uganda (Kisubi Associated Writers Agency)—a national leader in driving educational transformation through technology integration, teacher empowerment, and community-driven innovation. At the core of our work is the belief that quality education is a right, and technology can be a powerful catalyst to unlock this right for every learner in Uganda.

As of 2025, KAWA’s flagship solution, KAWA CONNECT, is revolutionizing access to learning through offline digital content. This platform provides students and teachers in remote and underserved areas with curated, curriculum-aligned educational resources—accessible without internet connectivity. From science experiments to literacy activities, KAWA CONNECT brings interactive, multimedia-rich learning directly into classrooms across Uganda.

Our National Impact

KAWA is a registered Community-Based Organization (CBO), founded in 2006 by educators from St. Mary’s College Kisubi, with support from alumni and institutional partners. Over the years, it has gained national recognition through strong collaborations with:

  • Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES)

  • National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC)

  • Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) through the Rural Communications Development Fund (RCDF)

  • Makerere University Business School (MUBS)

We now proudly serve as a national provider of professional development services, focusing on training educators and supporting schools in using ICT for improved learning outcomes. Our blended delivery model includes face-to-face workshops, virtual teacher support, and mobile outreach, ensuring that no school is left behind.

ICT Clubs: Empowering the Next Generation

One of KAWA’s most impactful roles has been the establishment and mentoring of ICT Clubs across the country. As of 2025, we have successfully launched 283 ICT Clubs in primary and secondary schools, offering learners hands-on experience in coding, robotics, digital storytelling, and real-world problem-solving aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

These clubs are igniting a passion for technology, critical thinking, and innovation among Uganda’s youth, especially in rural and hard-to-reach communities.

Partnering with Edify Uganda for Transformational Education

KAWA Uganda is working in close partnership with Edify Uganda to implement Quality Education through Technology and Christ-Centered Values. Together, we are supporting over 5,500 primary and secondary schools to integrate digital learning tools, faith-based character development, and teacher capacity-building programs—bridging the gap between academic excellence and values-based education.

Our Vision

To make the greatest possible impact on the life chances of learners by partnering with educators, schools, and communities across Uganda—ensuring they are trained, empowered, and supported to deliver the highest standards of inclusive, values-based, and technology-enhanced education.

KAWA’s books were launched by the Hon. Minister Namirembe Bitamazire, Minister for Education and Sports (2007)
