Finally, the ICT clubs Innovations competitions came to an end on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Hotel Paradise, Jinja with the Eastern region Schools. These competitions are part of the preparation events in for the 7th National Communications Conference.
The College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University, in collaboration with Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), is organizing the 7th National Conference on Communications (NCC 2022). The conference will take place on 20-22 June 2022 at Makerere University.
The Four winners of the regional ICT innovations competitions will automatically participate in the national competition on June 22, 2022. These are: St Mary’s College Kisubi for the Central region with the Education Standards and Syllabus coverage application; Ntare School – the western region with the Up-farm Innovation project; St. Gracious SS Lira for Northern Region with a modern farming and hydroponics Solution; and Tororo Girls School with a Media platform known as Tower TV.
However, According Dr. Edwin Mugume, the Conference Organizing chair, two extra schools have been selected to join the competition given the high potential of their projects. These are the extra schools that have been considered for the finals: St. Henry’s College Kitovu and Iganga SS.
The National Conference on Communications (NCC) is a forum that aims to strengthen ICT-based research and innovation, particularly of locally relevant solutions through discipline-specific conference series. The Objectives of the NCC include:
1. Promoting Research & Innovation
2. Promoting Sector Collaboration.
3. Building Innovation Capacity.
The main Sponsor is Uganda Communications Commission. The partners are Makerere University, Mbarara University, Airtel, Huawei, RENU, and Smile telecom. Together, NCC thrives to promote the communications sector, research, innovation, and collaboration.
