The conversion of Saul of Tarsus
Saul's conversion is
described dramatically in Acts 9:3-19, but there two other accounts of
his shattering experience, in 22:6-16
and 26:9-23 From the moment that he heard the
voice of Jesus, he understood w it was that had transformed the believers, for
he was totally transformed himself. His life was quickly in danger from the
Jews who had previously been his friends and he eventually went back to his own
city of Tars
It is possible to
suggest a date for his conversion by working backwards from other information
including what Paul himself says in his letter to the Galatians. Between A.D.
34 and 36 is most likely. Acts 9:31
records the end of this period of persecution after the conversion of the most
vigorous persecutor.
