The Christian and injustice
Although a Roman
citizen was protected by Roman justice, there was also a great deal of
injustice in the Roman empire, particularly for oppressed sections of society
such as slaves and conquered peoples. The role of women was limited to being
wives and mothers in a society which was male-dominated. The long-term effect
of the teaching found in passages such as Acts 10:34
and Galatians 3:28 was the removal of
injustice and prejudice. There is still a great deal of injustice and prejudice
in the modem world and Christians still need to speak and act against it, as
did Peter and Paul.
