The District School ICT Club Website Competition is an initiative to promote the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in District Schools across the country. The competition was launched on 29th July, 2022 at St. Mary’s College Rushoroza in Kabale district where selected schools from Kigezi sub region gathered for the website challenge.
The government of Uganda rolled out ICT Clubs in schools in 2018 and are still ongoing. These competitions therefore are a part of ICT Clubs activities that will help Students gain skills in using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Angular JS, React, JSON, MySQL, PhP as well as machine language and artificial intelligence for Web Coding and development.
The competition aims to harness the skills and creativity of the students in order to foster a culture for responsible use of ICT in school and in society and also to also encourage the culture of ICT innovation among youth in Uganda.
The Competition theme was and is “Youth, Prepared for 21st Century Life, Work & Sustainability” for all the four regions in Uganda namely Eastern Uganda, Western Uganda, Northern Uganda and Central Uganda.
KAWA as an implementing partner in this competition is excited to see the progress of all the participating schools. The District School ICT Club Website Competition is an initiative to promote the use of Information and Communication Technology where UCC will be providing support through the use of ICT tools, resources and training to all participating schools. This will enable the schools to have their own website that is interactive, user- friendly and informative which can serve as an online platform for reaching a wider audience.
