Marketing cocoa in Ghana.

Marketing of cocoa is handled by the state owned cocoa marketing board which purchases cocoa beans through its licensed agents.  It fixes the price which the farmers are paid.  Part of the money saved by the board is used to support an increase in the local price of cocoa during the years when the world – market price is usually low.
Most of Ghana’s  cocoa is exported through the port of Takoradi.  Some cocoa –processing is also done at Takoradi.  The rest is exported such to countries as England, USA, Germany, Japan and France.
