Sedentary Agriculture.

This is a form of agriculture practised by settled or sedentary farmers.  Many groups remain permanently in one area, cultivating the same fields year after year. The following factors induced farmers to change from shifting cultivation to sedentary or settled agriculture.
Population pressures have  led to continuous use of the same land. Settlement has been upon fertile soils whose enduring productiveness encouraged continuous use. There are modern methods that have made use of the same piece of land possible.
