Small Scale Farming.
This is a shift from only subsistence to market economy. A large percentage of African’ population is rural and the major occupation of the rural farmers is farming; raising crops on small holdings for many of the small scale farmers. Production is no longer for home consumption but for the market.
Even in cases where only food crops are grown some of the production is sold so as to earn income. It is because of this cash; crop element that these farmers are called semi-holder than subsistence.
