Weaknesses of the NRM Government

There is still widespread rural poverty.
Imbalanced and unequal regional development.
Corrupt tendencies in government institutions.
Restriction of multiparty politics for a period of 18 years affected the freedom of Assembly.
Continued quarrels with some of our neighbours especially Sudan, Rwanda and DRC Congo. Earlier, there was a terrible conflict with Kenya which ended.
Being vulnerable to the manipulation of IMF and the World Bank.
The recurrent insurgency in parts of the country by various groups such as the ADF and the LRA. These have resulted into displacement of persons, loss of life and property and have tended to log jam economic activities in those areas. A serious reconciliatory approach is required to end all these insurgencies.
There has emerged an aspect violation of people’s rights through the empowerment of security agencies such as the CMI and other unconstitutional security organs, which Kakooza Mutale heads as well as Operation Wembley. People have been tortured in safe houses.
Failed to solve the problem of poverty and unemployment in the country.
The widening gap between the rich few and the poor majority.
