17. Privatization of formerly public funds consumers parastatals has been a positive move

Rehabilitation of the existing industries for example Pepsi Cola factory at Nakawa, Mukwano industries, Nyanza textiles, Nile Breweries, Uganda breweries, Uganda cement industries, Grain milling company at Jinja, East African distilleries in Kampala, Uganda Baati, Cable Corporation at Lugazi, Sugar factories among others.
19. Government has broadened the tax base for example creation of Uganda Revenue Authority responsible for the collection of taxes.
20. It has also improved the agricultural sector by importing the agricultural inputs like seeds, herbicides, machinery like tractors and ploughs.
21. It has invited foreign investors to invest in Uganda in order to increase production and the creation of employment.
22. It has reduced expenditure on social services through the retrenchment exercise in order to save money for rehabilitation.
23. It has adapted import-substitution strategy as a way of saving money which would be spent on importing goods.
24. Government has also eliminated trade malpractice like smuggling and hoarding.
25. It undertook currency reform in 1987 and replaced it with the one which has more value.
