Why the Fulani practice Nomadic Pastoralism.
1. They occupy areas which receive little and unreliable rainfall of a long time. This does not favour permanent settlement.
2. The areas are occupied by tsetse flies. This forces them to move depending on the alternating dry and rainy season.
3. The Savannah region they occupy has a lot of grass in the rain season.
4. Soils in those areas are very poor that they cannot support many crops. This forces them to keep many animals.
5. Most of these areas are remote and far from development.
6. They consider their animals to be very important especially for provision of food, skins and hides, ceremonial sacrificial purposes, bones for fertilizers.
7. Such areas and people are neglected by the government.
