Reasons why Nomadic pastoralism is usually not productive
• Scarcity of water especially during seasons. There is water in wet seasons but dry seasons comes pastrolists have to move to different places to get water.
• Poor pastures: The low and reliable rainfall leads to poor pasture. The grass grows fast during the wet season but when rain stops, grass dries and less nutritious for animals.
• The high temperatures in the area make it impossible for animals to do well. In some places only camels and goats are kept.
• The soil is unfertile.
• There are pests and diseases. The tsetse fly is a major problem. This has affected the quality of the animals.
