The problems faced by the Fulani

•    The problem of prolonged drought conditions from October to late March.  This leads to problems like:-
•    Death of many animals.
•    Lack of enough water for animals.
•    Poor pasture for animals.
•    The animal pests especially tsetse flies which occur in the rain season.  These  cause  Nagana to animals and sleeping sickness to man.
•    Occurrence of Wild animals which eat calves and threaten human beings too.
•    The constant famine among the Fulani.  This is because they do not grow crops since they do not settle in one place for long.
•    Easy spread of Cattle diseases caused by communial grazing.
•    The problem of over stocking of their livestock which causes over grazing and general environmental degradation.
•    The tribal conflicts.
•    The occurrence of soil erosion.
•    The poor quality cattle kept.
•    The long distances moved with the animals to the market centres make animals lose weight.
