Problems Libya is experiencing in the exploitation and marketing of oil.
i. The problem of decreasing oil mines. The production of oil has reduced and it is predicted that within 30 years in future, there will be very little oil.
ii. The problem of sand dunes during the mining of oil.
iii. The problem of inadequate technology.
iv. Exploration of oil is extremely difficult because of sandy and stony, waterless environment.
v. Limited production of agricultural products, since most of the people have joined oil mining. Libya therefore imports the agricultural goods.
vi. The high evaporation rates due to high temperatures in the desert. There is a problem of lack of water.
vii. The petroleum products are highly inflammable and cause fire outbreak problems especially during transportation.
viii. Oil spills on the seas often causing death to fish and other marine creatures and also spoils sea beaches.
ix. On marketing, there is problem of price fluctuation and competition from other producers.
x. The wells that have been sunk are too deep and operating at very high costs.
xi. The poor relations with other countries especially the United Nations sanctions put on Libya has limited its relations with other countries.
