•    Possibilities of better forms of land use and land use planning for example land consolidation
•    Reduction in conflicts/ quarrels
•    Regeneration of the environment/ land etc.
Negative effects on areas of origin.
•    Fall in agricultural production as work is left to the aged women  and children
•    Possibility of rural areas being recolonised by natural vegetation as well as under utilisation of resources.
•    Inadequate labour for development of the area.
•    Decrease on tax base (potential tax payers move away from the area.
•    Reduction in market for goods and services etc.
