All the gospels refer to the burial of Jesus' body by Joseph of Arithmathea but John's gospel alone mentions Nicodemus assisting him (19:39). No other gospel mentions the embalming of Jesus' body with spices. The manner of the burial fulfilled Isaiah 53:9; the spices were expensive, the gift of a rich man.
