Provision of good fishing grounds like those on the Nile, Niger, Congo and other Rivers.

Provision of water for irrigation for example Gezira on the Nile and Richardtoll irrigation schemes.

Rivers act as climate moderators as they influence local weather conditions through evaporations hence contributing to convectional rainfall formation.

Rivers provide water for transport by boats, and canoes.

African rivers have features like levees, Ox-bow lakes, water falls, Gorges, flood plains which attract tourist who bring in foreign exchange.

Rivers provide raw materials for mining industries for example sand, quartz, and limestone.

River valleys provide land for human settlement.

Water falls and rapids are used for generating H.E.P used in Industries and homes.

Rivers act as boundaries to countries and districts.

Swamps which provide materials for the hand craft Industry.

Provision of fertile deposited silt soil for agriculture for example the Nile Valley.

The soil in the river Valley is used for brick making, pottery e.t.c

 

Wildlife conservation where animals like crocodiles, Hippos and the birds are conserved.
