The characteristics of deserts
Absence of soil and dominance of sand and Pebbles.
Low relative humidity due to intensive night cooling causing morning dew on the surface.
Clear cloudless skies with excessive sunshine.
Very high diurnal range of temperature.
High rate of evaporation.
Scarcity of vegetation covers.
Prevailing aridity, scarce rainfall, but when it occurs it is destructive.
Absence of the cold season with means monthly temperature below 60C.
Very high annual and daily range (10-180C).
Very high temperature during daytime and very low night temperatures.
Tend to be located in the latitudinal belts of 15-300 north and South of the Equator.
They have no or little water reserves in form of lakes and Seas.
Sandstorms and Stormy winds are common.
