Growth


Locusts migrate over very long distances and are destructive to crops as they migrate.

They are also used as food.

Life cycle of a locust/grasshopper:

  • The female lay eggs in sand after mating.
  • The eggs hatch into nymphs after two weeks.
  • The nymphs are wingless and they moult through instar stages as wing buds develop.
  • Wings appear after six weeks making it an adult.
