Structure of population in LDCS
- Growth rate:- The growth rate of population in most LDCS is high, over 3% per annum in most countries.
- Age Consumption:- A bigger proportion is below the age of 15 years due to high population growth rate. A small percentage is above 60 years due to low life expectancy.
- The sex rate:- There is a -higher population of women than men. The number of women exceeds that of men.
- Settlement patterns:- Majority of the people live in the rural areas with a very small percentage in the urban areas. There is a very high incidence of rural urban migration.
- Quality of the people:- The literacy rate is low with the majority of the population being unskilled.
