The nature of population problems in LDCS
- High population growth rate: In most LDCs the population growth rate is high and in some cases are above the annual growth rate of their economy.
- Dependants: Most of the resources are used for supporting the dependants instead of being used for development purposes. This increases expenditure on social services.
- Unemployment: Some of the labour forces remain unemployed and there is rampant rural urban migration with its negative effects,
- Poor quality population: Most of the people attain 'low level of: education due to limited resources, This , leads to low labour Productivity which retards economic growth and development.
- Population Pressures: There are high population densities in some areas leading to over population in relation to resources.
- Feeding problems: There is shortage of food in many areas especially in the urban places leading to importation of food.
