Problems of Over Population
- Population explosion:-It leads to population explosion where the population growth will be at a very high rate.
- Resource over exploitation:- It leads to over exploitation of natural resources resulting into the exhaustion of the non-renewable resources.
- Food shortages:-It leads to the problem of food shortage unless there are special measures to increase food supply.
- Rural-urban migration:- Rapid population increase in the rural sector pushes people out of the agricultural sector into the urban areas in search of good opportunities.
- Land fragmentation:- The land gets divided into smaller non-viable plots as the population rises.
- Over strained infrastructure:- It puts heavy strain on the existing and planned amenities such as water supply, electricity, sanitation etc. which cannot cope up with high demand.
- Social conflicts:- Widespread discontent breads misunderstandings.
- Inflation:- It creates imbalance in the forces of demand and supply where the demand exceeds supply causing inflationary tendencies as prices constantly rise.
- Unskilled labour force:- The resources or funds may not be enough to meet the training needs for the population leading to unskilled labour.
- Low standard of living:- Because the resources may not be enough to provide the basic needs of the society, the standard of living remains low.
