Why sugarcane is grown on the Natal Coast but not the Namibian Coast
Natal is affected by the Warm Mozambique current which causes high rainfall in the area.
Namibian Coast is affected by Banguela Ocean current which causes desert conditions. This may not allow sugar cane to grow.
Natal region has high temperature over 15oC which are good for sugarcane growing.
Namibia Coast has low temperatures due to the cold ocean currents. This does not allow sugarcane to grow.
Soils on the Natal coast are more fertile than those of the Namibia Coast.
