Soil catena
Soil catena refers to the arrangement of soil types from the hilltop to the valley. It is a sequence of soil down a slope. It is determined by the extent of a slope. This results into deeply developed soils down the valley bottom and thin layers of soil up the slope. The other difference between soil profile and soil catena is that soil profile is largely influenced by climate leading to rock breakdown, leaching and elluviation while soil catena is largely influenced by relief and drainage.
