Reasons for construction of the railway.

1.    The Railway was constructed to transport the bulky and heavier timber form  interior to the port.
2.    The relief of the area favoured the construction of  the railway.
3.    It is relatively cheaper to transport large logs and other products for long distances.
4.    To make the possible exploitation of all the hardwoods of the Ogooue basin.
5.    The feeder roads which serve the railway will open the devastated forest areas for agriculture.
6.    To make the export of Manganese and Uranium from France Ville to the port easier.
7.    To open the Northern forests and permit a rich Iron Ore field at Behinga.
8.    To reduce the high costs incurred on the transport costs through long distances especially on Eastern side which used to port pointe Noire in Congo.
