Organization

The principle executive officer and the legal representative of the bank is the Director General who is appointed by the heads of member states and holds office for five years. The Director General presides at the meeting of the Board of Directors and is responsible under their direction for conducting the bank's current business. Each partner state appoints one director and one alternative director for the Board. Other investors subscribing to the bank nominate directors and alternate directors.

For administration purposes the bank is divided into a number of departments. The Secretary's department; the operations Department; and the Treasury Department.
