According to Luke 6: 15, one of the disciples of Jesus was Simon t Zealot, or Patriot. The Zealots were nationalists who were prepared fight for Jewish independence. Luke 19:41-44 indicates that Jesus did not agree with the militant attitude of the Zealots who began the rebellion in A.D. 66 and led their people to destruction. Jesus wept over what would happen to Jerusalem.
