A New Chapter in Digital Education

MUKONO, UGANDA — 2 November 2026. St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde has taken a significant step towards strengthening digital education following a visit by a team from KAWA Uganda, led by Ms. Rebecca Auma, on Monday, 2 November 2026.

The visit focused on introducing teachers and school leadership to KAWA CONNECT, an innovative digital learning solution developed to improve access to curriculum-aligned educational resources, including in schools where internet connectivity is limited or unreliable.

The engagement brought together teachers, school administrators and KAWA representatives for practical demonstrations, discussions on digital teaching and an assessment of the school’s existing ICT infrastructure.

The school leadership welcomed the initiative, expressing enthusiasm about the opportunities it presents for improving teaching, learning and the effective use of technology.

Importantly, St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde agreed to purchase KAWA CONNECT curriculum content for both Lower Secondary and Advanced Level education, marking a positive commitment towards integrating digital learning resources into its academic programmes.

Practical Training on KAWA CONNECT

During the visit, Ms. Rebecca Auma guided participating teachers through the capabilities of KAWA CONNECT and explained how the platform can support classroom teaching, lesson preparation, independent study and curriculum delivery.

KAWA CONNECT provides structured educational resources that can be accessed through computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. Its offline capability is particularly valuable for Ugandan schools seeking to introduce digital learning without depending on continuous internet access.

The demonstration highlighted how teachers can navigate curriculum resources, identify relevant learning materials and incorporate digital content into everyday teaching.

Rather than replacing teachers, KAWA CONNECT is designed to empower educators with additional tools that make lessons more engaging, accessible and effective.

Assessing the School’s ICT Readiness

An important part of the visit involved examining the school’s main ICT infrastructure and discussing how existing facilities could support the introduction of KAWA CONNECT.

The engagement provided an opportunity to consider the practical requirements for using digital resources within the school’s learning environment.

KAWA’s approach encourages schools to make effective use of equipment they already possess, reducing unnecessary costs while progressively improving digital learning opportunities.

This approach is especially relevant to schools seeking affordable and sustainable digital transformation.

School Leadership Welcomes the Initiative

The Headteacher of St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde expressed excitement about the KAWA initiative and its potential contribution to the school’s educational development.

The positive reception reflects the school’s forward-looking approach to education and its willingness to explore innovative methods of supporting both teachers and learners.

The agreement to acquire Lower Secondary and Advanced Level curriculum content represents an important outcome of the visit.

It also creates an opportunity for continued collaboration between KAWA and the school as digital resources are introduced into teaching and learning activities.

Supporting Lower Secondary and Advanced Level Learning

The curriculum content selected by the school will support two important stages of secondary education.

Lower Secondary Education (Senior One to Senior Four)

KAWA CONNECT resources can help teachers deliver competency-based lessons through explanations, illustrations, videos, activities and assessments that encourage active learner participation.

Advanced Level Education (Senior Five and Senior Six)

Digital resources can support more detailed subject study, revision, independent learning and preparation for examinations.

By introducing resources for both levels, St. Cyprian High School is taking steps towards improving continuity in digital learning across its secondary education programmes.

Beyond Digital Content: ICT Clubs and Teacher Training

The visit also opened discussions about opportunities for broader collaboration in ICT Club development and teacher professional training.

1. ICT Club Development

KAWA’s ICT Clubs initiative encourages learners to move beyond basic computer use and become active creators, innovators and responsible users of technology.

Potential activities at St. Cyprian High School include computer literacy, digital content creation, coding, web development, online safety, basic computer maintenance and practical problem-solving projects.

An active ICT Club can provide learners with opportunities to develop teamwork, creativity, leadership and digital skills relevant to further education and employment.

2. Continuous Teacher Professional Development

Teachers remain central to successful digital transformation.

Through future training engagements, KAWA aims to support teachers in using digital resources confidently, preparing technology-supported lessons, integrating multimedia into classroom activities and developing effective digital assessment practices.

Teacher training can also help schools establish sustainable approaches to managing educational technology.

3. A Whole-School Digital Transformation Approach

The engagement highlighted the importance of connecting digital learning resources with school leadership, teacher development, ICT infrastructure and learner participation.

A successful digital school is not simply one that owns computers. It is one where technology is purposefully integrated into teaching, learning, administration and continuous school improvement.

Building a Sustainable Partnership

The visit to St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde demonstrates the value of collaboration between schools and education technology organisations.

KAWA’s immediate priority will be to support the school’s planned acquisition and introduction of curriculum resources, while exploring further opportunities for teacher training and ICT Club development.

These activities offer a practical pathway towards establishing a stronger digital learning culture within the school.

Looking Ahead

St. Cyprian High School Kyabakadde’s positive response to KAWA CONNECT reflects a growing recognition that digital education is becoming an essential part of school improvement in Uganda.

By embracing curriculum-aligned digital resources and exploring opportunities for teacher capacity building and learner innovation, the school is positioning itself to benefit from technology-supported education.

For KAWA Uganda, the visit reinforces its commitment to making quality digital learning resources more accessible, affordable and relevant to Ugandan schools.

The future of education is not simply about introducing technology into schools. It is about ensuring that teachers and learners can use that technology meaningfully to improve educational outcomes.
