Equatorial Vegetation
The hot rainy humid conditions have given rise to dense tropical forests. The forests are dark that grow close together and they are entangled by parasitic lianas. The trees are tall up to 40 metres with broad leaves and buttress roots and the forests are evergreen.
The leaves and branches of these forests form a continuous canopy that is an umbrella shaped. And there are actually three layers are distinguished. The first canopy is made by the tallest trees, second by the younger and smaller species which are between 15 and 20 metres high. Then the third canopy is made of herbs, ground crippers, low bushes that thickly cover the ground.
Tropical Rainforest
In the swampy areas of the Equatorial vegetation especially at the coast, mangrove trees are found. Examples of trees found in tropical forests are, mahogany, ebony, sepele, rubber, palm trees, Okoume etc.
