Types of division of labour/specialization

a)   Regional, territorial, and geographical division of labour: This is where different regions of the country specialize in production of certain commodities.     

b)  International Division of labour: Certain countries have advantages in producing certain goods. They may have natural resources or they may be able to produce goods more cheaply, e.g. Uganda coffee, China electronics. They then trade these goods for those produced in other countries.

c)   Simple or Occupational Simple DOL: This is where different individuals take on different occupations according to their interest and ability. Some people are teachers, others are doctors while others are engineers etc.

d)  Complex or Process DOL: where a task is divided into a number of parts 'and' subparts and each part Is taken up by a specialist"
