THE MAJOR CONCERN OF HOSEA

Hosea was concerned about God's relationship with His people of Israel. He demonstrated this relationship through his disastrous marriage with Gomer.

He was concerned that Israel had broken the covenant they had made with God and continued sinning.

He intended to call upon the people of Israel to turn back to God and observe monotheism once again.

Hosea wanted to demonstrate God's love for the people of Israel despite their continued rebellion.

Hosea was concerned about the people's failure to repent and turn back to God. It is because of this that God was determined to punish them.

Hosea was concerned that Israel had got involved in apostasy. He showed them that they were God's people and therefore it was wrong for them to copy other people.

He was concerned that the people of Israel would be taken into exile once again and therefore he called upon them to change for the better

He was concerned about the Holiness of God which the people had defiled time and again. For this reason, they deserved their punishment.

The prophet was concerned about the misconduct of the priests whom he expected to be righteous and exemplary.

He was disappointed by the pagan worship which had overtaken the people of Israel. Hosea intended to show the people of Israel that they would be restored to their former glory. They would be famous once again as the chosen people of God.

Hosea was concerned that the Israelites had got involved in the foreign alliance. He showed them that they were trusting earthly powers instead of trusting Yahweh.

The prophet was concerned about the insincere repentance which the Israelites had got involved in.

The prophet intended to call upon the people of Israel to return to the covenant relationship.

THE RELEVANCE OF THE BOOK OF HOSEA TO CHRISTIANS TODAY

Christians should worship only one God.

Christians should repent their sins and put themselves right with God. Christians should forgive those sinning among them.

Christians should be faithful in their marriages.

Christians should act as examples both in their words and actions. Christians should seek protection from God.

Christians should treat each other equally.

Christians should discipline their children.

Christians should love each other unconditionally.

Christians should tolerate with behaviour of each other. Christians should be patient with one another.

Christians should remain hopeful especially in times of difficulties. Christians should protect and preserve human life.

Christians should keep or fulfil their promises.

Christians should accept their mistakes

Christians should seek blessings from God.
