THE MAJOR CONCERN OF HOSEA
He was concerned that Israel had broken the covenant they
had made with God and continued sinning.
He intended to call upon the people of Israel to turn back
to God and observe monotheism once again.
Hosea wanted to demonstrate God's love for the people of
Israel despite their continued rebellion.
Hosea was concerned about the people's failure to repent
and turn back to God. It is because of this that God was determined to punish
them.
Hosea was concerned that Israel had got involved in
apostasy. He showed them that they were God's people and therefore it was wrong
for them to copy other people.
He was concerned that the people of Israel would be taken
into exile once again and therefore he called upon them to change for the
better
He was concerned about the Holiness of God which the
people had defiled time and again. For this reason, they deserved their
punishment.
The prophet was concerned about the misconduct of the
priests whom he expected to be righteous and exemplary.
He was disappointed by the pagan worship which had
overtaken the people of Israel. Hosea intended to show the people of Israel
that they would be restored to their former glory. They would be famous once
again as the chosen people of God.
Hosea was concerned that the Israelites had got involved
in the foreign alliance. He showed them that they were trusting earthly powers
instead of trusting Yahweh.
The prophet was concerned about the insincere repentance
which the Israelites had got involved in.
The prophet intended to call upon the people of Israel to
return to the covenant relationship.
