Introduction
The
Horn of Africa comprises of the independent states of Ethiopia,
Somalia, Eritrea and Djibouti. For long, this region has been plunged
into chaos which manifests itself in form of coup de tats, interstate
conflicts, wars of secession, dictatorial rule, civil wars and so on.
Some of the political crisis have included the 1974 coup in Ethiopia,
the Eritrean war of secession 1963 - 93, the Ogaden crisis, boarder
conflicts between Ethiopia and Somalia and between Somalia and Kenya
as well as the post Siad Barre conflict in Somalia in which Uganda is playing the role of peace keeping.
