Introduction
Climate and weather have to be understood clearly. Weather refers to the condition of the atmosphere for a short period of time say over a day, an hour or minutes. Therefore when at a specific time and place, it is stated that it is hot, cold, wet, cloudy, windy, rainy or sunny, something about weather is being said.
The following are the major elements of weather and the tools of measurement. Rainfall is usually measured by a rainguage, temperature by a thermometer, Sunshine by a Sunshine recorder, atmospheric Pressure by a Barometer, Humidity by a Hygrometer, Wind strength and speed by Anemometer, and lastly Wind direction is measured by a Wind vane.
Climate on the other hand refers to the average conditions of the atmosphere for a long period of time which is approximately 35 years. Daily weather records kept over a period of many years are needed to obtain average weather conditions of a particular place.
