Explosive (divergent) cobweb — unstable equilibrium position

This is when the absolute value of the slope of the supply curve is less than the absolute value of the slope of the demand curve. The supply is more responsive to price changes than the demand. The price elasticity of supply is greater than the price elasticity of demand.

In this case, there will be larger price fluctuations leading to unstable equilibrium position, thereby creating an explosive cobweb. Price fluctuations simply diverge, never achieving an equilibrium position.
