Shade in the coastal plain area which was held by the Philistines. Indicate the territories of the Ammonites, Moabites and Edomites, beyond Canaan.

2. Explain clearly why syncretism between Israelite belief and Canaanite belief is absolutely condemned in the Old Testament.

3. Discuss this comment: 'Syncretism is just as possible and just as dangerous for the modern Christian as it was for ancient Israel'.
