ICT club learners during the Eastern region competitions

Eastern Region ICT Clubs Competition 2025

Held on 19 September 2025 at Busoga College Mwiri, Jinja District

The event brought together over 14 secondary schools from across the region,
each presenting innovative digital projects developed within their ICT Clubs.

The competition marked a major milestone, showcasing how school-based ICT Clubs —
nurtured by KAWA Uganda in partnership with the
Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) — are transforming students into
real-world problem solvers.

💡 KAWA Uganda’s Tremendous Role

KAWA Uganda’s contribution to the Eastern Region competition was remarkable.
Prior to the event, the team organised a three-week mentorship programme for ICT teachers and club patrons,
focusing on project design, presentation skills, and prototyping.

The KAWA coordination team worked closely with UCC regional representatives
to align judging criteria, ensure fair participation, and document each school’s innovation journey.

This mentorship resulted in high-quality presentations that showcased creativity, teamwork, and technical skill.
Students demonstrated not only digital competence but also social awareness —
addressing community challenges in education, environment, and agriculture.
